Please Touch: Body Boundaries
April 29–August 1, 2018
Please Touch: Body Boundaries is organized by filmmaker Dana Ben-Ari and Ysabel Pinyol, Curatorial Director of Mana Contemporary. In their approach to the show, Ben-Ari and Pinyol ask many questions: “When is the body’s anatomy sexualized and in what contexts? For what reason? What are the boundaries?”
The exhibition engages with today’s climate of accusations, denials, bodies, and borders through work that is sensual, exhilarating, painful, confusing, sexual, and vulgar. It features over fifty artists and includes contemporary art dating from the 1960s through 2018. Works examine identity and sexuality, expectations and assumptions, role-playing, breastfeeding, and motherhood.
Please Touch: Body Boundaries is on view at Mana Contemporary from April 29- August 1 2018. Artists discussions are scheduled for June 2nd.
