Continuing on our Black History Month theme, we look back at the recently closed, brilliant exhibition of works by Elizabeth Catlett at Burning in Water Gallery.

From Burning in Water:

On November 28, 2017, Burning in Water Gallery opened “Elizabeth Catlett: Wake Up In Glory”, the artist’s first solo show in New York City since her passing in 2012. Unity Lewis, art historian Samella Lewis’ grandson, graciously visited the exhibition and imparted intimate insight and personal anecdotes of Elizabeth Catlett.

Music: “Singing Head” by Rufus Reid We’d like to thank Rufus Reid for the right to include his wonderful composition “Singing Head” from the Grammy-nominated album “Quiet Pride | The Elizabeth Catlett Project.”

Elizabeth Catlett: Wake Up In Glory is on view at Burning in Water Gallery through February 3, 2018.
