MUSEUMS: Happy Birthday Louise Bourgeois | HOW TO SEE the artist with MoMA Chief Curator Emerita Deborah Wye

The Museum of Modern Art

12.25.2017

Happy Birthday to Louise Bourgeois, born on Christmas Day, 1911!

Louise Bourgeois is perhaps best known for her sculptures of spiders and cells, but a new exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art focuses on the artist’s printmaking that dominated the last twenty years of her seven-decade career. MoMA Chief Curator Emerita Deborah Wye recounts her time working with Bourgeois over the last forty years, from the artist’s first MoMA exhibition in 1982 up until her death in 2010, and explores Bourgeois’ artworks and the themes that motivated her in the exhibition “Louise Bourgeois: An Unfolding Portrait.”
