“The individual today has been given more power, hasn’t it? With the internet and things. And we’re all different. We all have different faces, we’ve got different insides, we’re all different. And I think that’s a joy, actually. Portraits, landscape, and still life. What else is there?”

David Hockney has produced some of most vividly recognizable images of the last 50 years. Recently, he was featured in one of the most buzzed-about booths at Frieze New York, has an iconic work up for potentially record-breaking auction, and Pace Gallery currently has on view ‘Something New in Painting (and Photography) [and even Printing],’ through May 12, 2018.

From the Royal Academy of Arts:

David Hockney RA talks to curator Edith Devaney in his Los Angeles studio, ahead of his Royal Academy exhibition ‘82 Portraits and 1 Still-life.’
