Hudson was an amazing art dealer. He was a union…. It was kind of a place of sharing of ideas, and that was really fulfilling as an artist. — Tom Friedman

A highlight of this year’s Frieze New York is For Your Infotainment: Hudson and Feature Inc., the fair’s first-ever themed section, celebrating the maverick spirit and enduring legacy of New York and Chicago art dealer Hudson (1950–2014) and his gallery Feature Inc, curated by Matthew Higgs (White Columns, New York).

From Frieze Art Fairs:

Artist Tom Friedman talks about his relationship with the late American art dealer Hudson, tribute to whom is paid in the theme section For Your Infotainment: Hudson and Feature Inc, curated at Frieze New York 2018 by Matthew Higgs.

Founder of the gallery Feature Inc, Hudson pioneered the US careers of many major contemporary artists. For the booth of Stephen Friedman Gallery, Tom Friedman has brought together works from early in his career and new works, creating a dialogue between past and present which extends throughout the section, where other solo presentations include Takashi Murakami, Raymond Pettibon and Tony Tasset.

Frieze New York takes place May 3–6. Tickets are available online.
