Antonio da Trento's "Martyrdom of Two Saints" - Conservation Treatment // Museum Artwork from LACMA on Vimeo.
This fascinating video takes a unique and rare behind-the-scenes look at the conservation process – from rationale to discoveries – as Los Angeles County Museum of Art undertook a study and conservation of Antonio da Trento’s Martyrdom of Two Saints. This important renaissance woodcut from the first half of the sixteenth century was acquired by LACMA in 2012.
Until September 16, 2018, the print will be on view during the exhibition, The Chiaroscuro Woodcut in Renaissance Italy. This exhibition is the first major presentation of the subject in the U.S., with 100 rare chiaroscuro woodcuts that will be brought together with related drawings, engravings and sculpture.
Now at the National Gallery of Art, through January 20, 2019 (government shutdown notwithstanding).
