“I’m painting really well now. The paintings are all coming out great.” —Alex Katz
Alex Katz is living, working proof that painting never died. At 91 years old – he was born July 24, 1927 in Brooklyn – he keeps up an exhibition schedule that would exhaust an artist half his age, including a dozen solo exhibitions since the beginning of 2017 at galleries and museums around the globe. In August, he was also given the Calvin Tomkins treatment in the New Yorker. In this video, Katz talks with us about how well he is painting, how he continues to improve as a painter, and makes clear how delighted he is.
