What better way to celebrate than with this absolutely jaw-dropping clip of Cai Guo-Qiang’s City of Flowers in the Sky, a choreographed display utilizing almost 50,000 customized fireworks. The work was created for the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, in collaboration with Tang Hua, the fireworks company renowned for their pyrotechnic innovations, as part of the Uffizi’s solo exhibition with Cai, Flora Commedia, on through February 17, 2019.

Cai’s performance – which lasted around ten minutes – was inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s iconic Primavera (c. 1480).
