“Camp is a question mark that won’t let its line to be straightened into an exclamation point.”
The Costume Institute Gala is on Monday, May 6, 2019 – that’s only three weeks away! Did you receive your invite yet? Book your stylist? Check and check. [Ha!—Ed.]
The Costume Institute’s spring 2019 exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is Camp: Notes on Fashion, running May 9 through September 8. Using Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on Camp as a framework, the exhibition examines the evolution of camp’s aesthetic through over 250 objects from the 17th century to the present. This video provides an introduction lively enough to make Oscar Wilde proud.
