“In my version, we’re using the mechanics of escape room games in order to invite visitors to examine how privilege affects everyday life.” —Risa Puno
Congratulations to Risa Puno, the winner of Creative Time‘s first-ever artist open call, for her project The Privilege of Escape. Puno’s project was chosen from over 600 applications as part of Creative Time’s laudable new programming dedicated to working with emerging artists — the first initiative of its kind in their 40-year history. According to Creative Time, Puno’s project will use the escape room game model “to consider how privilege and inequity manifest when groups of people are asked to navigate problem-solving together… [giving] the public access to a playful, challenging experience intended to be a catalyst to spark dialogue and meaningful exchange.”
Creative Time is fully funding the construction and installation of the project, but they want to be able to extend the project for as long as possible, to ensure as many people as possible can experience it. To that end, Creative Time has partnered with Kickstarter to launch a campaign to raise $20,000 before May 30, 2019. We are big fans of Creative Time and of Risa Puno, so we hope you’ll consider joining the campaign!
