We here at Daily Plinth are very excited about the new performance work by Amalia Pica, entitled The Drip (2018) debuting this week in the Platform section at The Armory Show, presented by König Galerie.
From Jen Mergel, curator of Platform:
Pica debuts a timely performance that confronts scarcity with resilient hope. One person with one small bag of confetti throws one piece at a time, watching it land before throwing the next. Once all falls, each piece is picked off the floor to start again. She explains: “It’s about treating joy as something too precious to spend all at once.”
From the Tate:
Argentinian artist Amalia Pica uses everyday objects to explore how joy and happiness can be a form of resistance. Now based in East London, the artist talks about growing up in Patagonia under dictatorship and how that experience has influenced her work.
