“To work with a lot of artists that have a dictatorial period past, they have a strong sense of humanity. You really need to understand your more dark period of your history to understand the present.” —Mira Bernabeu, Co-director, espaivisor
Hailing from Valencia, Spain, espaivisor – helmed by co-directors Mira Bernabeu and Miriam Lozano – has consistently run one of the most interesting programs in the international whirl of the major art fairs, and chatting with Mira Bernabeu is always a highlight of doing the rounds. From a program that focuses on artists whose practices are driven by socio-political issues, at Art Basel Miami Beach this year espaivisor will participate in the Survey sector with a booth dedicated to the rarely-seen oeuvre of the late Claudio Perna, a key proponent of conceptual art in Venezuela.
