“It’s a beautiful embodiment of the power of a blank piece of paper to conjure forth thoughts, to invite artists to create ideas, to challenge an artist to fill that blank space.” —Craig Burnett, Director of Exhibitions, Blain|Southern
At their Berlin outpost, Blain|Southern is a few weeks into Doodle & Disegno, an impressively diverse show about the power of paper. “Everybody doodles,” director of exhibitions Craig Burnett says in this video from the gallery, and that universality is key to the medium’s allure. Stylistically, the show is all over the place—in a good way. It pairs nicely with yesterday’s post about artists born and bred on the internet, like two sides of the same Bitcoin.
