“[With] an artwork in a public place, the passerby on the moving walkway – either coming from a destination or going off to a destination – becomes part of the artwork. They become part of the piece, whether they like it or not.” —Sarah Morris
UBS Art Collection is exhibiting a suite of works by Morris at Art Basel Miami Beach this week, including a custom wallcovering created especially for the UBS Lounge. The display also includes a new work, ‘Precious Stone,’ a graphic painting resembling a sound graph. The artist has dedicated much of her work to visualizing synesthetic qualities such as movement, noise, and adrenaline.
CENTRO DE FORMAÇÃO, a site-specific installation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport, typifies the hugely ambitious, large-scale abstract compositions for which she is known. In this video for South Florida PBS, Morris discusses her approach to public art.
