“Bill Traylor was a chronicler of his time and place, whether he meant to be or not. And by bearing witness to the life of his community, he captured the spirit of a people who suffered, rejoiced, and kept its balance, whatever life brought.” —Russell G. Jones, Narrator
… Too bad we can’t hear it right now. For the next in our nascent series (hopefully mini!), Great Art You Can’t See Right Now Because of the Chuckleheads In Washington, we’re bringing you the original long trailer to the documentary Bill Traylor: Chasing Ghosts, by Breakaway Films. The documentary was featured at the opening of the exhibition Between Worlds: The Art of Bill Traylor, now hanging, but not on view, at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The exhibition will run through March 17, 2019, once it is opened again.
