“These things are constantly happening in the world and we are totally interconnected, and we wanted to play with that idea. And also, that’s why we brought the jungle into Queens.” —Ana Paula Ruiz Galindo of Pedro y Juana
The winner of the 2019 MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program is the dynamic Mexico City-based firm Pedro y Juana, founded by Ana Paula Ruiz Galindo and Mecky Reuss. Their winning installation Hórama Rama – a giant cyclorama-type installation of the jungle, complete with hammocks and a waterfall – now graces the courtyard of PS1 for your enjoyment during the Warm Up summer music series and various summer exhibitions (through September 2, 2019).
In this video from MoMA PS1, Ruiz Galindo and Reuss discuss the physical and conceptual inspirations for the work, and we watch behind-the-scenes as the giant structure is constructed.
