“I think that everyone is a work of art and the more I do these, the more fascinated I am with all kinds of people. Nature hasn’t been kind – from an ideal aesthetic standpoint – to many people; people don’t look like the ideal glamour girl or man in a magazine, and I don’t do those types.” — Duane Hanson
Duane Hanson’s work is currently part of People, an exhibition open at Jeffrey Deitch’s 18 Wooster Street gallery through June 30, 2018.
From Wolfsonarchives:
Artist Duane Hanson, known for his hyper-realistic cast sculptures, exhibited his work at the Lowe Museum in 1981. WTVJ’s “Montage” news magazine interviewed Hanson and captured the artist at work installing his figures in the Lowe’s galleries.
