“And I just love being there [Warner Brother’s Studio lot]. There’s a metaphysical stardust that you feel in that place. And it’s why I work there – to capture that stardust in my work.” —Alex Israel
With works in major public collections, solo exhibitions around the world, and representation by Gagosian, Alex Israel (b. 1982, Los Angeles) is undoubtedly one of the major stars of his generation of young LA-based artists. The “Inside My Studio” series from the Anderson Ranch Arts Center and presented by Cultured Magazine, features artists participating in their Summer Series. As part of the seminars and presentations Israel gave this past summer at the Ranch, producer Dennis Scholl spoke with Israel. In this video, Israel talks about finding inspiration for his work at the Warner Brother’s Studio (where he has his own studio) and in his day-to-day life in Los Angeles.
